Jon’s career in retail spans more than 30 years. As an entrepreneur he started a food distribution business and a consulting firm called Restaurant Systems in Santa Barbara, CA. Two of the most successful restaurant chains that he was instrumental in developing were the Good Earth and the Elephant Bar. In 1987 Jon was hired by Washington Energy Company of Seattle as the Consulting Director of Research and Development for their new agriculture technology venture on the island of Oahu. In 1997, Jon moved to the Puna District of the Big Island, which is one of the fastest growing district in Hawaii. Since moving there, Jon has been involved in the development of commercial properties for Orchidland Center, Woodland Center, and currently the Puna Kai Marketplace. Puna Kai Marketplace, which will be anchored by a 35k square foot Malama Market, is presently under development and is scheduled to be completed in 2018. Including the Puna Kai Development, Jon will have involved in the development over 170,000 square feet of retail in the Puna District since 2004.
